Evidence first
We survey before we repair
A blockage that keeps coming back is rarely a coincidence. It is usually a defect in the pipe: a crack, an open or displaced joint, root ingress, a section that has dropped and holds water, or a partial collapse.
Every drain repair we carry out starts with a camera survey, so the defect is located and recorded before a spade goes anywhere near the ground. You see the footage, we explain what it shows, and then you get a written price.
Once the repair is complete the run is surveyed again so there is a clear before-and-after record — useful to keep on file yourself, and often asked for by insurers.
Drain defects we repair
- Cracked and fractured pipe sections
- Open, displaced and stepped joints
- Root ingress from nearby trees and hedges
- Dropped sections holding standing water
- Partial and full collapses
- Damaged gullies, chambers and connections
- Poor previous workmanship and incorrect connections
Signs your drain needs repair, not just clearing
Repeated blockages in the same run, gurgling from waste fittings, slow drainage that returns within weeks, damp or sinking ground over the drain route, or a persistent smell outside all point to a physical defect.
Clearing the blockage will buy time in those cases, but the problem will keep returning until the pipe itself is dealt with.
How much disruption is involved
We keep excavation to the minimum the defect requires. Where the location and ground conditions allow, trenchless options can reduce the amount of surface that has to come up — we assess and tell you what is realistic for your property.
Insurance and property sales
Drain defects often come up in home buyer surveys or as part of a subsidence or escape-of-water claim. We can provide the survey footage and a written summary of findings and works so your insurer, solicitor or surveyor has what they need.
Where we work
Drain repairs are carried out across Barnet, Southgate, Enfield, Whetstone, Finchley, Palmers Green, Cockfosters, New Barnet, Potters Bar and the surrounding North London and Hertfordshire border areas.
How it works
Our drain repair process
- 01
Clear and access
The run is cleared enough to get a clean camera pass along the affected section.
- 02
CCTV survey
The defect is located, recorded and measured so everyone knows exactly what is wrong and where.
- 03
Written quote
You get a price for the repair, with the footage behind it. No pressure and no obligation.
- 04
Repair and re-survey
The repair is carried out and the run is surveyed again to confirm the result.
Questions
Drain repairs — common questions
- How do I know if my drain needs repairing?
- Repeated blockages, slow drainage that keeps returning, gurgling, bad smells or sinking ground over the drain run are the usual signs. A CCTV survey is the only way to be certain.
- Do you always have to dig?
- Not always, and where we do we keep it as small as possible. The right approach depends on the defect, its depth and what is above it.
- Will my insurance cover drain repairs?
- That depends entirely on your policy and the cause. We supply survey footage and a written report so you can put a proper claim to your insurer.
- Do you repair shared drains?
- Shared and public sewers are usually the water company's responsibility. We will tell you what we find and who is likely to be responsible before you commit to anything.
- How long does a drain repair take?
- It depends on the defect and the depth. Small localised repairs are often a day; larger excavations take longer. You will get a realistic timescale with your quote.
